About Calyvra Insurance

Where coverage becomes access.

Calyvra Insurance was created to transform health coverage from paperwork into functional access to care. In a system where enrollment does not automatically translate into care, precision matters. We exist to align coverage structures with real-world medical and financial needs—so insurance works the way it should.

Orlando Sosa Ruiz

Orlando Sosa Ruiz is the Founder & CEO of Calyvra Insurance. His background in healthcare operations and community health shaped Calyvra's approach: combining insurance expertise, personalized guidance, and strong organizational partnerships to expand access to health coverage.

Our Approach

Health insurance in the United States is structurally complex. Coverage on paper does not always result in access in practice. Provider networks, formularies, deductibles, subsidy eligibility, and enrollment timing all interact in ways that directly affect a person's ability to receive care.

Calyvra operates at this intersection. We design enrollment strategies that account for clinical needs, financial realities, and long-term stability. Every plan selection is evaluated not as a transaction, but as a decision that influences downstream outcomes—access to specialists, medication affordability, continuity of care, and protection from avoidable medical debt.

Our model is access-driven. We focus on sustainable coverage placement that reduces friction between insurance systems and healthcare delivery.

What We Do

Calyvra supports individuals and families during Open Enrollment and throughout the year for those who qualify for Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs) following life transitions such as job changes, income adjustments, relocation, or family changes. We also guide clients through Medicare enrollment — including Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans — and provide dental, vision, life, and supplemental coverage. For employers, we help build broader employee benefit packages through group health and employee benefits for small and growing organizations, alongside community organization enrollment. As an independent insurance agency, we help you compare options across multiple leading carriers to find the coverage that fits your needs.

Public Health & Institutional Partnerships

Beyond individual enrollment, Calyvra functions as an access partner for Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), health departments, and 340B entities.

We provide enrollment support and premium payment coordination through Ryan White and STI programs utilizing 340B funding. By managing the structural components of insurance access and premium logistics, we allow healthcare organizations to concentrate on direct patient care.

Our role is to ensure that coverage supports care delivery rather than complicates it.

Our Impact

Calyvra has supported individuals across multiple states in securing affordable health plans during recent ACA enrollment cycles. Our work extends to populations requiring stable, uninterrupted access to care, including individuals living with HIV and other STI-related conditions.

We measure success not by enrollment volume, but by stability of access—continuous coverage, sustainable costs, and reduced administrative burden for both individuals and partner organizations.
